“As parents to twins, Mack and Madi, I and my late wife Britt (partner in life and in MORE) learned what it means to travel as a family. Africa is a new world for children – filled with colourful people, marvellous attractions, and curious animals – the stuff of storybooks and dreams come true.
“To discover it together is pure magic …reconnecting loved ones with each other (tech and work forgotten) and the ‘wonder-fullness’ of life. In this spirit, MORE brings you our Mack & Madi experience, giving your family every freedom to enjoy these precious moments to the fullest.” – Robert More
Mack & Madi Crew
You can relax assured that our team of dedicated childminders will look after your children like they would their own. Each minder has been specifically chosen as much for their nurturing aptitude as for their credentials, including first-aid training (just in case).
Facilitating both curiosity and safety, our minders allow your kids (3 to 11 years) to wander – but not too far, and for little ones (0 to 2 years), they provide babysitting – more like a play date. Your youngsters (12 to 16) may well choose to get in on the excitement, too.
Mack & Madi Kids’ Programme
Between family game drives, the fun continues with our Mack & Madi Kids’ Programme – you can join in, but will likely be told: “No adults allowed!” We know every child is unique – and shy or outgoing, creative, sporty or adventurous, we promise them the time of their lives.
Activities and excursions encourage your kids to discover, create and express themselves, and keep them entertained (i.e. out of mischief). There is everything from animal ‘spoor’ tracking and camp outs, to pancake baking and dress-up plays to get excited about, before settling down for cinema under the stars.
At Safari Lodge’s Eco Garden, we often see youngsters disconnecting from the digital sphere as they become engaged with the many fascinations of nature’s ecosystem. This is a base from which to explore – as well as a clubhouse, taking fun up another gear.
There’s a jungle gym, sandpit and swings; archery with haybale targets; a paddling pond; toys, puzzles and games; an arts and crafts space; a drop-down theatre and popcorn machine; bean bags, couches and blankets; and a big backyard to run wild in.
Beyond the lodge, community tours and visits with local children introduce them to new and exciting cultures and languages, making their worlds much larger. They can spend time playing together and learning from each other, help out with community projects, and experience a different – and humbling – way of life.
Mack & Madi Family Time
After an eventful day, the Family Tented Suites at Safari Lodge have been designed to bring your family together – while still offering you and your children your own spaces to settle in. And we think they may have got the better end of the deal… *wink*
The children’s area is not just a second bedroom, it’s a happy place filled with toys and springy bunkbeds and bedtime storybooks. Their own en-suite is just as exciting, with the bubbliest foam bath, water toys, and snug robes and slippers.
Along with sleeping well, eating well is central to an enjoyable family safari. Meal times are something else to look forward to, with (healthy) dishes the whole family will find delicious; treats? (of course!); and surprise location feasts…
