Marataba, a 21,000-hectare (52,000-acre), privately managed section of the Marakele National Park, is uniquely situated where lush bushveld gives way to the Kalahari sands, in South Africa’s Limpopo Province.
As a contractual National Park, Marataba is one of South Africa’s most innovative conservation models. From the vision of an iconic president to the unique public-private partnership that exists today, we protect the area’s diverse flora and fauna through modern and hands-on conservation practices.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: Effective from 1 January 2024, both Explorers Camp and Founders Camp will be closing to commercial tourism. The shareholders have made the decision to hand over the sole use of Explorers Camp to a leading conservation organisation, and with the reduced commercial tourism beds they have also decided to revert Founders Camp to a private camp.

CLIMATE
October to March is hot (32C / 90F), punctuated by short thunderstorms. From April to September expect crisp mornings and pleasant days (25C / 77F).
